Clearly, none of these Itasca State Park and Bemidji photos were taken in January. The pink lady slipper, they say, blossoms in late June or early July. s to the year, I believe 1955 is a good guess. I remember as a young girl seeing an “Indian Chief” at the Mississippi headwaters. People could have pictures taken with him. I am thoroughly enjoying the photos.
The Chief at Itasca State Park was Chief Benjamin Odawa Littlecreek, who actually was a Chief. He was a friend of my Mother worked with him at 3M during WWII.
Based on some feedback from someone who recognized herself in these pictures as a child, I’ve set the dates of all of these photos to July of 1952. We probably won’t be able to get more accurate than that.
